Repetitive Strain Injury
Advice for "computer athletes"
- Stop doing whatever makes it hurt
- Contact a doctor, a physical therapist and maybe more than one of each. Not all doctor's know how to handle it.
- Keep your wrists straight — all the time! (even on the bike)
- Don't believe that a wrist protector can help you (other than as a pain reliever)
Important exercises:
Do these exercises every day (I do them when I wake up):
- 3 x 10 Wrist curls (as many kilos you can). Google "wrist curls".
- 3 x 10 Reverse wrist curls (as many kilos you can)
- Grip training: Squeeze a folded pair of socks as hard as you can for 10 seconds (repeat a few times)
At some point, when I get around to it, I will add some more RSI-advice (and a few links).
