A significant propertion of the hardware that currently services DIKU users comes from Sun Microsystems, and with the often demanding loads imposed on these machines, it is of particular interest how we make the most of them. DIKU staff member Christian Boesgaard has recently attended a SunTune seminar at the Danish branch of Sun Microsystems which addressed this issue, and he will give a presentation of the material covered there. His presentation will be part of a Copenhagen STL meeting, but anyone interested is welcome to attend.
Broad topics are: the new SUN machine "mokkurkalfe", the tools available on the machine to help with analysis during the tuning process and some topics relevant to optimization which have not been covered by the ongoing performance engineering course here at DIKU.
